I recently went to my doctor (OB/GYN) complaining of fatigue, moodiness, irregular sleep patterns, night sweats, hot flashes, weight gain and all of the other symptoms associated with thyroid and/or perimenopause. I am 36 (going on 37: ugh) so I was thinking that being pre-menopausal was not out of the question. I've been on the depo shot for two years and never once had ANY of the side effects the doctor warned me of. I thought I had it made! The doctor ordered the necessary blood work but told me that he was 99% certain that I was having side effects from the shot. He said we would wait until we got the bloodwork in but that one of my options was to take anti-depressants to counteract the effects of the depo. Never being one to take medication to fix other medication, my fiance' and I decided that perhaps not taking the shot anymore was my best option. Today is Saturday and as of today that doctor has had my test results on his desk since Tuesday and has not taken the time to call me, in spite of the fact that I've called him twice. Until I started research on my own, I was certain he was wrong and was almost desperate for those results. Now, quite frankly, I don't give a rat's a$$ if he ever calls... Bless all of you ladies and Shelly's website. I now am certain that all of my symptoms are caused by this shot. My symptoms are not as debilitating as the ones some of you have described and I thank my lucky stars that they are not. I am so sorry for everyone that has had to go thru all of this. I am not due for my shot until next month and on Monday I will call and cancel my appointment. I will also find a new doctor, one that actually calls a girl back (if such a thing exists). Thanks for the forum to get all of this off of my chest. I hope any woman that is considering taking that shot finds Shelly's site and thinks again!!
