I'm on depo provera for endometriosis as well. Part of your problem may be transitioning from the lupron - there's a reason they don't leave you on it that long. However, from the perspective of birth control to keep endometriosis from coming back, I'm convinced that depo is the way to go. We tried originally to just use regular pills taken continuously - I bled for two and a half months straight before my doctor tried depo, which finally stopped the bleeding. I'd say give it some time. Your body's been through a lot recently and needs some time to adjust. On the other hand, you may be someone who reacts better to continuous pills - my doctor says that some people are fine with them and others (like me) aren't.

I started getting the depo injections in February of 1994 and really never had any problems. In fact I loved it. I love the convenience of it. I loved that I didnt' have a period. I just loved it. It has not been almost 13 years and I recently just got off it.
I, too, have nothing but pain in my neck, shoulders, and back; lots of headaches and i recently saw a chiropractor and now I have pain in my feet and legs. I never thought that this shot could be the root of my problems but after reading all of this, it just might be. My main reason for posting something on here is this, like I said, I just recently stopped taking the shots and am getting ready to start a new birth control when I give my body a break for a month or two. The problems I'm having now is it seems like I have gained weight, at least about 10 pounds in just the last month or two. 10 POUNDS!! And it feels like i can't lose any, no matter what I do!! I didn't gain any weight from the shot, besides the normal getting older/few pounds a year weight, so I am wondering if by coming off the shot, I am gaining weight?! Has this happened to anyone else. Hello Michelle,
I began Depo on 1993 until 2004. It was great. No periods, no pregnancy (i was pregnant twice with controls pills). i took 25 pounds while i was on Depo, so not a lot of stress... (for a 5'10" tall!) like me you didn't have problems until recently... In 2000, i said to me doctor (whom give the injection) that my mother is suffering of osteoporosis, his face changed! He gave me the test for the bon less density, that i received a good result then... i was relax. Around 1998 , began a lot of headaches.. but i,m working a lot and on a computer too! Troobles with my eyes too. i dislike the artificial light. No mather on the doctors, iM ok they said. So i took a lot of tylenols or my new miracle: Ibuprofen. In 2004, at my work, i lost my balance (dizzy) and fell down on a big printer,i was not able to see clearly. Some co-worwers be afraid, the took me to the hospital, i was 33. I had a scan, resonance and all exams. They found a lot of cerebrals lesions - d to the thousands of headaches - and a beginning of epilepsia!!! The neurologist said: Stop the shot, we don't know that enough to be sure that it's not the problem. The last shot was in nov 2004, i lost nothing (weight) during 2005. i began loosing weight in the summer of 2006 (so almost 2 years after stop), i'm around 15 pounds lost right now (without exercices or diet) . I'm amazing that doctors have no more knowledges about hormones!!! in March 2005 , this same neurologist said that i could return back on Depo, if i want!!!! i said "remember, you told me to stop!" D to my headache history i can't return back on oestrogen too!!! This stuff could be a poison because i had a strong health before and now i have to pay attention each day. i think that poison we use around 12 years could not desapear in 1 year , if it make 5 years to get the problems (headache, dizzy, sleeping troobles, and low sex desire) , we have to be patient to repaire! During 2005 i had difficulties with circulation, no sensation in my feet and my hands, blood analysis shown hemoglobine = 5X a normal person but i'm ok , Doctors said! last year i began periods, first time since 12 years, and after i couple of months i felt better...strange coincidence, don't you? THis summer i saw my gynaecologist and i asked for Depo (just to see) and he purposed me instead a sterilet!!! My feeling is they knows something but are not "welling" to say the truth. I'm agree to see that i'm not alone in this case and i'm sure you will loose the extra pounds too like me. Take Care, Judy |
